Root canal treatments

Information About This Service

What is root canal treatment?
Root canal treatment is a treatment that is used to treat teeth that are infected in the middle of the tooth. The main reasons that teeth may need root canal treatment is tooth decay, damage to teeth due to trauma, and leaky fillings.

When is root canal treatment needed?
Root canal treatment is needed when the pulp (soft tissue forming the inner structure of a tooth and containing nerves and blood vessels) of the tooth has been infected. The pulp will start to die off if it is infected by bacteria.

Some symptoms of this may include:
o pain when eating or drinking hot or cold food and drink
o pain when biting or chewing
o a loose tooth

If the tooth is not treated it can lead to more severe symptoms and can also lead to a root canal treatment being less effective.
